Assigned to Homicide detail . An old couple have disappeared from their home. Foul play is suspected, and it’s up to Joe Friday to find them.
As they get ready for their day, Joe learns how Ben is in the family way… well his cat is, and he’s looking to offload the litter on Joe and his mom. The older couple is reported missing for four days. They aren’t ones to be gone much, or stray far from home when they do.
Neighbors are questioned, and nobody has been told the Aperson’s had plans to be gone. What about relatives? Do they get along well with the missing couple? A teenage girl may shine some light on questionable behavior on the part of Buzz, the nephew. The crime lab turns up lethal traces of cyanide, and a recent purchase by Buzz.
Buzz claim’s to have an alibi, but his friends say he never made the camping trip. The smooth talking youngster sticks by his story, but he’s no match for the interrogating techniques of the diligent Joe Friday. All that’s needed to seal the deal is finding the bodies.
Note: One feature about Dragnet is the lifelike sound affects. Ever wonder how they do that? Often the sandmen brought the actual devices to the studio they used in the show. A real car door for the sound of a car door. Real barber clippers for the sound of barber clippers, and the like.
