Homicide detail. A socially prominent man plans to kill his wife. He shares his plans with a friend who now comes forward to get police help.
Setting up cover stories, Joe Friday and Ben Romero work with the informant to learn more about Stone, and ensure they have a case. In voiceover, Joe describes the sting operation, and efforts made. The cops need to be sure any deals made are all his idea, to keep from being blamed for entrapment.
Playing his part, Joe keeps the cops informed, and all parties are on the alert for Stone’s activities, or other indications that he’s on to them. Stone begins to come through with money and murder weapon, so why doesn’t Joe have the kind of solid evidence to put Stone away?
Stone goes over details to the murder plan. Has he thought of everything? A robbery to cover the motive, gloves for fingerprints, ease of access and exit, and more. Presenting the evidence of the case to Mrs Stone, she’s in shock, but cooperates in closing the case.
