As enemy threat increases, a little store is enforced with sandbags. The defenses are coming along nicely, and a machine gun will top it off nicely… if only they had a machine gun. At any moment, Nazi’s could parachute from the skies. A radio call goes out to men, aged from 17 to 65 to volunteer.
A commander and other officers are appointed, and the Home Guard is gathered. Shortages in supplies and other logistics abound as men are lined up, interviewed, and processed. All manner of civilian occupations are represented. From the young to old of past wars, to butchers and undertakers.
The rag tag crew continue processing, even bringing in their own guns. Supplies arrive, but the rest of the weapons can’t fit in such a little box that gets delivered. There may still be a lot lacking, but the national fighting spirit is all it takes to win.
