As Kingfish tries to enjoy his evening paper, Sapphire tries to talk to him about her day. All she wants is for George to get a job, but naturally for him, he avoids it. He ends up being kicked out of the house. Kingfish imposes on his friends amos and Andy for favors. Namely in a place to sleep, and running some errands.
Poor old Kingfish, all he wants to do is make Sapphire proud of him. When there’s a suitcase mixup, George decides to impersonate a soldier. At least long enough to have his picture taken. The plan is to send her the photo, and aletter to imply that George is overseas, serving his country. His exploits are truely marvelous, a wonder to behold, but are they going to be believable?
What could go wrong with such a simple plan? Plenty, when George bumps into a Colonel. Not given much chance to explain, Kingfish is in deep trouble. I’m surprised that the Colonel can’t see through the act, but the humor that results is great.
Can Kingfish get out of the charges? Will Sapphire ever find any good in him to be proud of? I’m not telling, but fortune smiles, and all is well… Sort of.
