On the phone, Lum is wheeling and dealing on getting carpenters to start renovating. Abner is still concerned over where the money will come from for the movie theater. Lum wants to mortgage the store, but Abner is against it. Though Lum says they are losing money every day by not opening, Abner is confused over where the money came from that they are losing.
Opening the picture show will also safe residents of Pine Ridge by not having to drive to the county seat. All this saving money by not driving gets Abner more and more confused. Before long Abner has folks going to the show for free. How can they make money on that?
Grandpap arrives to rescue Lum from going stark raving mad crazy. Will the old gent figure out Abners ravings? Will Abner make the carpenters mad, and have them walk off the job?
