At a doll shop near the Pentagon, a little girl and her mom do some window shopping. When daddy stops along to meet them, the small, life like dolls are just too precious to pass up. As dad runs off on another errand, Mr Perigi shows off his animated, talking dolls with artificial intelligence. A sale is made, but when Toto the doll is brought home, the family dog changes from a gentle little pup to a growling beast who takes offense at the new doll.
Strange things begin to happen at home. Hateful and murderous things. Mom and dad just don’t believe her when Cindy claims to have nothing to do with the occurances. How can a doll be to blame? Emotions run high, and get worse when secret papers from the Pentagon are found missing. The doll and the girl are at the center of the upsetting events, but dad still won’t believe that little Cindy is innocent. Logic dictates that the girl may need psychiatric help.
The frustrated dad takes the doll back to the shop, but will that be the end of the rash of problems? Perigi has the missing strong box with papers, and a situation of blackmail is in the open. What’s really going on here?
Will dad stand for the threats? Hasty action is taken, but when dad realizes the real secret of the doll, will anybody believe him?
