The gents are still at the mercy of uncle Henry. He threatens to expose the truth about Marry really being the fugitive girl, Ellie Conners. His agony over having poison oak, which he blames on Mary, has progressed to more and more ailments.
The gents complain about uncle Henry, even having to say ‘amen’ for him in church. Lum has had to be Henry’s personal servant in giving a tithe to the offering plate, and even buying a pack of gum for the disabled constable.

Cedric phones in to alert Lum of a crowd. Why are they gathering? Abner is too embarrassed to push that wheelchair, but another phone call changes the matter. Will it be for the better, or worse?
