Trying to escape a meeting with uncle Henry’s sister, Lum finds himself quarantined with her and the very healthy cedric. The gents play checkers as nurse Lunceford treats Cedric. The no nonsense nurse is just as gruff as her lawman brother. Cedric is confused over his treatments, or whether he’s getting better or not. Even taking his medicine is a mental challenge for him.
The nurse encourages Cedric to be active to recover quicker. Would it help if he played games? Maybe pitching horse shoes in the store? Nurse Lunceford gets a nice word game going. Now it’s Abner’s turn to be confused over the mental exercise.
A call on the party line brings a distraction, and… hey… where has Cedric gotten himself off to? To play the kind of game that is more his speed, Cedric is reported to be in Luke Spears lunchroom to enjoy a round of pinball.
Note: Can anybody guess who is voicing the old biddy of a nurse? Need a hint? It’s the same actress who voiced the eccentric, and fickle artist, Mable Melrose of recent weeks. Also the same actress who has been portraying the run away from the reformatory, Ellie Connors, now known in town as Mary. Yes, it’s the ever versatile Lurene Tuttle. She must have been taking the Summer hiatus from her role as Marjorie, of the Gildersleeve program to spend most of the Summer with the friendly folks in Pine Ridge.
