Robbery Detail. A robbery has taken place in a neighboring city, and Joe Friday needs to help catch the bad guy. Frank Cheney is a recently released prisoner who is on hand to register with the police station. The mundane portrayal of a cops life are presented by Joe in voiceover. When a large, armed robbery is linked to the presence of an ex-con, the robbery detail springs into action to share resources.
Leads on parolees, and their activities are monitored. Who fits the bill? Who hasn’t been seen for a while? Ex-cons feel like they’re being picked on when they get questioned. Loan papers had names of a band of ex-cons, including Frank Cheney. Joe tells through voiceover how the investigation just kicked up a notch.
With the band of high class crooks in high gear, it looks like Joe had been right in hassling the ex-cons. Shaking down the false front of a legitimate business, the cons are alerted that the cops are sniffing around. Gunplay is narrowly averted, an arrest is made, but the mastermind behind the robberies is still on the loose.
