Hanging out in campaign headquarters, Gildersleeve touches base with his manager, Judge Hooker. He holds the majority according to polls, but only by a narrow margin. Leroy comes to call Gildy home to deal with the visit from his future mother in law.
At home Gildersleeve deals with Birdie, and dinner preparations. Mrs Goodwin arrives to meet Marjorie and Leroy. Everyone is on their best behavior… right? Are you kidding? Actually, the visit goes well, with just a little misbehaving for comic affect.
Complications set in when Gildy feels that Eve’s obligations lean more toward her mother, than to him. Is he really playing second fiddle to her mother. Might these be hints of storm clouds in the marital bliss that awaits for Gildy? Is Gildy being unreasonable in his demands for attention?
Seeking solace, Gildy heads to Peavey’s drugstore. Will the druggist have any advice on dealing with the mixed signals from mother and daughter? How about a nice bird lecture for the love birds to get away for some quiet time?
