Abner is joined by Cedric and grandpap to get the art exhibits set up in the schoolhouse. Cedric claims the reason he never made it past the 3rd reader is because they didn’t have a desk big enough for him. Abner has trouble telling which side of the surrealist paintings is the top. If it weren’t for the signatures, and names of the paintings, the gents wouldn’t know how to hang them.
Pausing to light up a cigar. Grandpap tells about his painting of a bowl of fruit. The agonizing over which is the top of the artwork, grandpap’s fruit bowl, and Cedric being hungry for even half a banana continues until Lum arrives.
Will Lum set them straight on which way is up? He tells about what the paintings are, and what the shaky lines and paint blobs mean. Maybe if the gents step back, and get another perspective. The gents begin to see the fog in the painting roll in… or is that just smoke from grandpap’s cigar?
