Back on the surface of the earth, a huge underground explosion has been detected. Frantic news reports wonder if it has something to do with the mechanical mole. Rescue teams scramble to save our heros, but can anything they do be affective?
Spaceships armed with disintegrators are used to dig through the earth. Far below the surface, Buck, Wilma, and Doc all come to, and hear the rescue atempts over the radio. With radio contact made, our heros claim that they are still up for cintinuing their exploration, and are going deeper. Oh that Buck, such a man of understatement.
Gotta love his closing statement, “if anything exciting happens, we’ll let you know.” As if it has already.
