The art exhibit is to be this weekend, and the town’s two surrealist painters rush to get their paintings ready for the war bond drive. Has anyone forgot that Mable won the right to marry Lum in a contest? Lum tells Abner a secret, he’s going to propose to Mable. It’s about time, since Abner tells how the whole town has been wondering when a wedding was going to happen.
Lum tells how he has actually fallen in love with Mable, his soul mate. Abner is all for doing anything to get Mable out of his house. Is he being too flippant with Lum’s love of his life? Just propose… call her on the phone right now. Having enough of Lum’s excuses and delays, Abner phones her, and puts Lum on the spot.
Will the romantical language between the lovers be too embarrassing for Lum? The eloquent Lum gets tongue tied, and beats around the bush with talk of the weather. Abner keeps encouraging, and pushing Lum, but will the proposal be forthcoming?
