A couple of youth talk about being accepted. One is shabbily dressed, but the other is confident that won’t be a problem in meeting the family. Jonathan is given a pair of leather sandals, while Daniel gets a special dagger from his father. Until he’s older, the dagger is to go on display, and never used. Uh-oh, I feel a missing dagger being used in an incriminating way coming on.
While Jonathan goes home to talk to his mom about being poor, and wanting things he can’t afford, or have a use for, Daniel’s dad discovers a missing dagger, and blames it on Jonathan. What can be done? Getting the town judge involved would mean criminal charges. All evidence points to Jonathan as the thief, but is there a hidden circumstance? The wise judge delays his decision until he can talk with the Master.
Profound words are spoken, but does it apply to the situation at hand? The wise judge thinks it does, but the first thing to do is to find Jonathan, and bring him to town. Punishment, or forgiveness. The real decision lays between Daniel and Jonathan. Which will go further to rehabilitate the situation… kindness or a reprimand?
