On Bunko Fugitive Detail. A criminal may be hiding out in the city, and it’s up to Joe Friday to get him. As Joe and Ben head out to pick up their criminal, they’re joined in cop talk by a fellow officer who needs a lift to go home. The easy job ends up with gun shots, a crook on the run, and a downed cop. The only lead is a taxi fare that was picked up near the hotel.
A different transient hotel is staked out, and a friend is interviewed over lunch. The name of a partner is turned up, but there could be danger for the woman if they find out she talked.
Stakeouts continue, and Miss Thomas is putt under protective custody. It pays off in gun play, and Flemming is picked up the hard way. Will he tell where Garvey has gone to? Will Miss Thomas get the trust of Flemming, during his stay in the hospital? Weeks pass, but a pay off comes.
She is to meet someone, and the cops have her covered. Precautions are taken to minimize harm to pedestrians and locals. Sure enough gun play is involved, and the mystery of the hiding Al Garvey is revealed.
