Word comes to Captain Canelli that one of his patrolmen has been injured. He tells about the administrative policies behind ensuring the injury is job related, and goes to check on him at the hospital. Cahill tells how he was dealing with kids in a condemned tenement.
Meanwhile, while still at the hospital, Canelli learns about a teen ager who fell off a truck, and landed under the wheels. There isn’t much hope for the boy, but will the police learn anything at the crime scene. Did drivers do all they could to avoid the situation? Will they be able to identify the boy?
The cops discuss the hazards of the condemned buildings, and the attraction for the juveniles in the neighborhood. A jacket from a club, the Red Tigers, could help figure who the boy was. The problem, is the group disbanded some years ago. There doesn’t seem to be much of a solution, other than making a positive identification, and in sending a warning to kids these days… don’t do stupid stuff like hang out in condemned buildings, or ride on the back of trucks.
