The war bond sales contest keeps going steadily along, and the co-chairmen of the committee still aren’t talking to each other. Cedric is on hand to assist communication between Lum and Abner, while Abner merrily hums to himself, and takes phone calls with election updates. Sister Simpson by 1 vote… Wait, make that widow Abernathy by 2 votes.
Since the co-chairmen aren’t speaking, responding to the intraoffice memo, Abner is called on to conference with Lum about the election. Memos fly, and the votes keep coming in. Cedric gets stumped as the go between in repeating messages between the two gents who aren’t talking to each other… as they talk to each other.
The topic of the big conference is to call off this silly election. Lum thinks its unreasonable to have to get married to either of the ladies. What will it take to get Lum to change his mind about the election gimmick for the war bond drive? A telegram from the treasury department to praise the idea should do it.
