For some, the only facts and details are those that can be seen, touched, or proved out in the course of business. Life is all about minimizing risk, and making a profit. Forget matters of faith, sometimes it takes more than trust in fellow merchants to invest in a potential risky business, even if the profits will benefit all involved.
With a faith that can’t be extended to even family or friends, is it really a life if it’s spent all alone? Feelings of pity and loss begin to plague Aaron. Helplessness is added as Aaron’s boy falls sick, and he can only watch and do nothing. Praying would be something, if only Aaron believed in such things.
With such a fatalistic and doubtful outlook, what will it take for the cynical Aaron to take his son to the Master for healing? What will he lose? For his son’s sake, and whether he believes or not, the family set out to see the Master. At least Aaron has love and determination, but will it pave the road for healing, or growing his own faith?
