The wedding between aunt Charity and grandpap turned out different than expected, but better than anybody could hope for. Today, Lum and Abner anticipate getting back into the synthetic rubber business. Grandpap was the only one who knew their secret formula, and they try to decide the best way to write it down and keep it secure.
Grandpap can’t recollect anything of his time being Buster V Davenport, but he’s back to remembering all manner of obscure people who neither Lum or Abner can call to mind. Will he remember the formula? The gents are kept in suspense as grandpap continues to tell about folks that nobody else seems to know.
Abner is frustrated and amused at hearing about pack rats, and piano thieves. Kleptomaniacs and robbers pepper grandpap’s stories, but the formula seems to be out of reach for Lum, who is about to go stark raving mad crazy. Will it ever be revealed?
