The two important war bond executives hold a business lunch. Lum calls the meeting to order, and sets out to organize a war bond campaign. Abner is more involved in the lunch part of the business lunch. Interruptions begin when Cedric comes looking for the gents, but they shoo him away to the pinball machine.
Is it really necessary to hold a secret ballot between the co-chairmen to appoint positions? Lum thinks so. He casts ballots in a way to ensure he has the higher office among the co-chairs. Now opening the floor for suggestions, Lum presents his own idea. Abner gets confused over what it means to canvass the town.
Getting the idea of tents, and canvass stuck in his head, Abner takes the discussion of selling bonds down a different road. What about Cedric? He keeps interrupting, and being shooed away. By the time the meeting is over, its too late for Cedric to buy the first war bond. His nickels are all in the pinball machine.
