As Vic reads the paper, and Sade darns socks, Rush tries to do his algebra homework.
Sade brings up the topic of what a person might do with a million dollars. Just the kind of interesting topic that Rush needs to distract him, as if any topic wouldn’t be interesting enough to distract Rush from his homework. Vick would buy a motorcycle, and fancy clothes. Sade tells how she plans to come by her million dollars. She wants to start a business being a flower garden arranger, and advisor to her friends.
Her idea came after a compliment Sade recieved over her own flower garden. Sade gushes over her compliment, as Vic imagines what it would be like if his boss praised his work in the same way. Throughout, Rush drops comments of his own on the topic of compliments, but is distinctly being given the cold shoulder, and short answers, in hopes of keeping his attention on his homework.
Too late. The distractions are too much when his friend Smelly Clark phones. Afterward, Sade caves in and lets Rush join in the grown up conversation.
PS: Here’s what Jimbo Mason has to say:
This is what I’d call a “typical” Vic and Sade episode. Not the funniest thing you’ve ever heard but funny enough to make you want to listen more.
The underlying theme of Rush not doing his homework is far funnier than the gardening plot (no pun intended.)
