It’s the morning after the big New Years celebrations, and in the Harris home we find the family doing what most families do. Alice reflects on her blessings as she begins her new year. Both Phil and Willie make their own, different observations on the day. Willie gets on his soap box to preach at Phil for having a hangover. When Frankie arrives, he brags about his own wild New Years Eve party with the band.
Taking a different direction, Phil reads a fan letter. He is worried that he has a flaw in his personality, so he goes to visit his fan, Mr Sweeny. The odd man is excited to meet Phil and Alice, but his wierd ways are enough to confuse even Frankie. What about those flaws that had Phil worried? Sweeny doesn’t like Remley, and he feels that Phil’s voice is wasted on the songs he sings. Determined, Phil sets out to be a great concert singer. Phil sings, The Old Master Painter.
To get a professional opinion, a voice teacher is called on to evaluate Phil’s voice as a concert singer. In the meantime, Julius pops in to offer his opinion on the topic. Frankie and Julius conspire to doctor some throat spray for Phil to use. A concoction that’s sure to sabotage Phil’s voice. Before his teacher arrives, the audio stops, but I’m sure it was doomed to not go well.
PS: I thought I had a more complete copy of this episode, I know one exists, and I’ll try to locate it and repost this one when I do.
Trivia Note: When Willie is preaching to Phil, he actually calls him by his real name. Listen to see if you can catch it. Think you know? Drop me a comment and tell me. You’ll just need to be a registered member, and signed in first.
I laugh at Phil Harris ever day. Thanks for the shows. It’s great to hear relly funny stuff without the language of today.
