Connie Brooks complains to Mrs Davis about her car troubles before Walter arrives for her ride to school. Walter tells about his project, a hand built radio. With the rainy weather, Mr Conklin is in a grumpy mood. Is he ever in a good one? At school, Connnie drops off Walters radio in the science lab. In the process, she gets a lesson on the environment, and an early warning from Mr Boynton that the global climate is changing.
Out of curiosity Connie and harriot fire up the radio and hear a weather bulletin that a hurricaine is rapidly approaching. Should the school shut down for safety?
To close school takes a decision from the principal, but with Mr Conklin temporarily out to recieve a delivery of furniture, it’s up to Connie to take charge. Will the principal be pleased with her decision? He might be, but Madison High doesn’t happen to be anywhere near any oceans. There’s a perfectly good explaination for the wierd weather report, but not before Mr Conklin falls for the report as well.
