To be as professional as possible with the new dentist office in the feed room, Lum runs the show installing office equipment. Abner thinks he’s going too far with the intercom system. The concept of such a thing is beyond him.
Lum tries to show himthe worth, and importance of the contraption with a little role play announcements as he calls for nurse Peabody… calling doc Edwards… Will the contraption, made from a funnel and 15 feet of garden hose really make an impression on the patients? Lum has taken dropped hints, and jumped to the conclusion that Doc Snide wants him as the new dental assistant. Lum thinks they ought to wear white uniforms, but Abner doesn’t like the idea.
As Lum makes improvements in the feed room, Cedric enters to marvel at the intercom. He and Abner test it out. Though he warns Abner and Cedric not to play with the intercom, they soon need to call him on it with a warning.
