A man with a problem comes to Doc Hall for help. William Conrad is a gangster who explains his business to the doc, and wants to make sure his son gets a square deal at Ivy. What kind of favors or privileges does the gangster expect? Doc Hall can’t be bought off, and assures that the gangster’s son will have all the same opportunities extended to him, but no favors.
What kind of boats might be getting rocked by the unbudging standards of Doctor Hall? Casual moments in the Hall home are interrupted when Ed Gray, the gangsters son shows up. His problem seems to center on the student not fitting into any fraternities, and having no extra curricular activities. With advice from Mrs Hall, the suggestion to tone down his approach to life on campus is the answer.
Each week we seem to learn a little more about the romantic life of Vicky and Toddy, and today is no exception. Listen and learn Doctor Hall’s full name. There’s still one problem to deal with, the matter of all that money the gangster promised to give to the university. Will Doc Hall be in hot water with Mr Wellman, and the school board for turning down all those funds?
PS: I meant to make note of this when I posted the pilot show. Of course the Halls were not played by the Coleman’s for that episode. It was Gale Gordon in the role as Doc Hall. I thought it was his voice, but he played the character unlike his usual style that we hear in roles like Mr Conklin on the Miss Brooks show, or his hypertensive Mr Mooney on TV’s the Lucy show, or Mr Scot on the Phil Harris and Alice Faye show.
