It’s a dark, cold, Monday morning as Gildersleeve faces the day. When he sleeps in and is in danger of missing breakfast, Leroy and Marjorie fear he may be sick. Even Birdie and Leila are concerned that Gildy could be coming down with something.
Is the big man going to be OK? Doc Pettibone declares that Gildy is just faking, so Gildersleeve demands a second opinion. The doctors convene, and a thorough exam begins. It sounds like the medical talk has Gildersleeve feeling nervous, and confused. Despite the medical mumbo jumbo he’s a little excited at the thought of a personal nurse. Then he meets her.
Judge Hooker visits and Gildy shares his concerns and frustrations. Is he sick or not? After a full day of agonizing, medical testing, blood work, and all, the next morning has the family gathered around Gildy’s bed. All their worries are settled when the final prognosis comes in. The verdict is the same, nothing is wrong other than a routine vaccination is needed.
