Deciding to take over as social leader of Pine Ridge society, Lum wants to throw a big coming out party for grandpap. Sister Simpson is upset over being left out of the party preparations, but Abner thinks the two of them together could whip her. Even if she’s stout enough to win the bell ringing attraction with the sledge hammer at the carnival.
Lum tells why he thinks he’s qualified to run the show with the party. His uncle, who was a barber named Floyd Elkins from St Louis… er… was that Floyd Whitley? I think Abner is right to be confused by the blown smoke.
Interrupting Lum’s party planning, Abner does Cedric a favor, with a wake up call by phone. If the schoolhouse isn’t grand enough for the gala affair, where should Lum have the big ball? The idea of a drawing room confuses Abner. Too bad little Pearl is away at nurses school, she used to draw all the time in the house.
Will Lum have to cave in, and have another run of the mill party, and let Sister Simpson handle the affair? A last moment idea, and a can of gold paint saves the day for Lum. There could be more problems for Lum’s Whitley-Edwards estate though.
