The meeting of the Golden Era Discussion Club hasn’t started yet, and the gents want to keep it a secret about their discovery of synthetic rubber. If Cedric, Abner, or grandpap let the news out, someone might want to steal the formula, and sell it to the government themselves. They need to keep the secret especially away from Ulysses, since he’s so brainy.
If it does slip out, Abner wants to think of some casual conversation to change the topic to. What unsuspicious phrases might they use to steer conversation in a safe direction?
Ulysses arrives to catch the folks up on his little son Ellery, but the conversation slips in and out of generic greetings of, ‘Hello, how are you,’ as the gang tip toe around the mention of rubber bands, the rubber man at the circus, and others. \
Though Ulysses keeps trying to steer the dialog to the innocent topic of his son Ellery, and reciting patty cake, somehow Abner, and the others land on topics that fit the word rubber into the mix. How’s your uncle Dave? Hello Abner. How are you doing? Ok, Ok.
