The members of the Golden Era Discussion Club meet in Lum’s parlor to attempt to raise the level of ignorance in Pine Ridge. Being meatless Tuesday, the snacks are skimpy, which is fine with Cedric. He’s still jumpy and nervous over his impending wedding to Winifred Redfield.
The third meeting is called to order. Abner reads the minutes of the previous meeting. Grandpa Masters is back. Though he’s mad at the gents for waking him up at the last meeting, it gets him out of the house to attend the meetings… to nap in the rocker.
The topic is philosophy, and the philosopher Spinoza. Abner gets confused, thinking they’re discussing spinach. The gents all had notes prepared, but nobody seems to have notes on the topic. As the gents adjourn for snacks, Lum phones the absent professor Sloane to see what he knows about Spinoza.
