All that remains of the spectacular trip to Mars is the stack of bills. Today, Lum and Abner review how much they owe, and though the phone rings off the hook, Lum is too afraid to answer it. Who is going to take responsibility? Abner is quick to keep his distance, and leave them to Lum. Settling up on uncollected grocery debts is a far cry from what they need.
What’s the latest news about Squire Skimp, and his illegal sales of stock? He seems to be in good with the judge, and he’s out on probation. Lum kicks himself for believing all that prittle prattle that professor Sloane told them about going to Mars.
Feeling sorry over Lum’s low state, Abner joins him in claiming to be the lowest of chumps. The phone keeps ringing through the discussion, when Lum has had enough of it. Instead of a bill collector, Lum is pleasantly surprised to have a money making opportunity. More than enough to pay their bills. Will their new found celebrity be worth it?
