Today is the day that Mousey is to take his physical to go into the military. Abner gets confused over the ducking center that Mousey will be going through on his first day. I’m pretty sure that’s not what an induction station is meant for. The gents start planning a going away party for Mousey.
When Mousey enters, the gents do their best to keep the surprise a secret. One requirement before going off to boot camp is setting accounts in order. Lum lends his hand at handling Mousey’s financial obligations. Meanwhile, the phone keeps ringing, and Abner is hard pressed to talk with Sister Simpson, and still keep the you know what, a secret.
Mousey’s problems in settling his affairs, turn out that he hasn’t got any to settle. Now what’s Lum supposed to do? Though the gents have tried to keep things discrete, Mousey is observant enough to uncover the surprise party plans. Hey, he was a night watchman, and friend of the hoot owl after all.
