Cattlemen are warned off a particular town by Tonto, but the cowboys won’t listen. The crooked sheriff is aided by Jeb Barker, a hard case who helps extort cattlemen, and swindle them out of the cash when they sell their herds. The scam is that the cows need to pass inspection, and delays are enforced unless a fifth of the herd are left in town as the cattle pass through.
Gunshots blaze, but Tonto is back to prevail on saner heads. Does the Lone Ranger have a plan to put an end to the crooked lawman? When the cowboys decide to swing around town, and bypass the town, we learn the true nature of the crooked lawmen. They plan to ambush the herd, wipe out the cowboys, and take all the cows for themselves. It’ll be easy to do since the water in the river is up, and is a raging mass of white water.
Instead, the ambushers find the river has dried up. How did the Lone Ranger manage that? What plan does he have up his sleeve to turn the tables on the cattle rustling lawmen? Stand by for the Lone Ranger’s secret to be revealed as the grateful cowboys get the drop on the sheriff and his henchmen.
