Matt and Chester talk with a local rancher who is going into the hotel business. It may be an unusual career move, but the rancher is determined to do good in his new enterprise. Later, Kitty tells Matt about a few rough types who just rode into town. Are they gunmen, or just saddle bums?
There’s trouble when a fire breaks out, and the work on the hotel is gone. Matt doesn’t have any solid evidence, but the newcomers to town are suspected. Days go by, and Matt patrols Dodge City, when he gets word of a possible shady deal with selling cattle.
Matt takes Enoch, the rancher turned hotelier, to the indian reservation. What’s the connection? Matt knows, but Enoch doesn’t like or trust Matt since he thinks the Marshall hasn’t arrested the ones who burnt his hotel down. Matt is about to get his proof, and make amends with Enoch.
