With the first observatory demolished in a wind storm, Lum is looking for new property to rebuild it on. Not wanting Squire to know he wants it, Cedric is recruited to help buy the old Beuford place. Cedric gets so nervous on the phone, and isn’t much help.
Deliveries are done, and Abner enters. Will he be willing to back Lum, or help him with the deal? How about if it will help save a life? The life of Professor Sloane as he pines away on his sick bed.
Lum appeals to Abners adventurous, scientific discovery side of his character. It only causes Abner to get confused over who discovered the steam boat. Why did Fulton build one if he never knew what one was before he started? As Lum leaves, Abner wants to do the right thing, but his bid on the Beauford place only drives Lum’s price p.
