Gildersleeve is a busy man as he prepares for his upcoming wedding to Leila. The family gets ready for Memorial Day festivities while Gildy tries to update his Will. They both have their own misgivings, but Judge Hooker is recruited by Gildy to draw up the Will.
Meanwhile, Gildy, Leroy, and the family enjoy a day out together. Even Ben, Marjorie’s mild-mannered boyfriend. Gildy mentions a former girlfriend in Paris, from when he was in the last war.
Gildersleeve has big ideas about the legacy of his Will, but the Judge gives him a reality check. Later, Gildy and Peavey compare notes on their past military experience. The Will is done. Gildy and Leila spend a few moments singing at the piano, and when Gildersleeve shares the desires in his Will, Leila gets upset.
