Jim Burton is a tough man of the West who ran an extortion ring. Anybody who dared to defy him was sure to face his wrath. Everyone from the sheriff, to law abiding citezens, and even bandits feared him. To cross him was to risk having a farm burn, livestock poisoned, or other acts of terror. The wild claims are unbelievable by the masked stranger and his indian friend, until he witnesses it for himself. Why won’t the people band together and refuse to pay the man?
A plan to break Burton’s power is arrived at, but will the people of town rally to support the Lone Ranger? It’s going to take some daring action to convince them, and it’s sure to get Burton riled up.
Burton fights back by kidnapping Tonto to lure the Lone Ranger into a trap of his own. Will one of the townsfolk betray Tonto? Will Tonto be tempted to betray his masked friend?
Will the Lone Ranger stand for seeing Tonto tortured? Will the foolproof trap be the end of our hero?
Things are looking bad for the Lone Ranger except… there’s a bigger trap that’s sure to snag Burton instead.
