A letter arrives to let Lum know of his prestigious position at the convention of the Great Horned Owls convention in Leavenworth. How will honest Lum react to raise the money he needs for traveling expenses? Sister Simpson is on hand, but will she know of someone who could give Lum a loan? Ben Withers will go to bat for him… right? Fine. Will Lum be inspired by the stories that Ben tells of his wealthy friends, and how they made their fortunes?
In Luke Spears lunch room, Lum is on the lookout for backers for his trip to Leavenworth. Its kinda hard to ask Luke for it, in between the exuberant lunchroom patron. Wendell Niles enters, but all he’s good for is the sponsor message.
Heading to the county seat to get a loan, Abner goes with Lum to cosign his loan. How will Lum’s income and collateral hold up to scrutiny?
The loan determination depends on the report of the inspector to see whether the value of the Jot ‘Em Down store is worthy. When a stranger is spotted , Lum puts on a show of doing a wealthy and prosperous business. Too bad its a coincidental visit by a tax adjuster.
