George Beaumont faces losing his hoe, and job over scammers who he has never seen. It all started for George when his wife phones to tell that the sheriff brought a summons to the door. Who are the people who is suing him? What’s it all about? The situation gets serious once George’s first impression that it’s all a practical joke fades. Concerned over the bad publicity the case could bring, George searches his memory for the cause of the legal trouble.
Flashback to George’s daughter and her boyfriend driving to make an important appointment about a job. They have a near miss with an auto accident. Since they weren’t directly involved, they go on their way. Chuck had borrowed the Beaumont’s car. Is this the incident the laws suit is about?
George seeks advice from a friend who has some knowledge about the law, and is assured there’s nothing to worry about. The advice seems to make sense, but how trustworthy is it? More legal documents appear to demand $25k,, and when his boss learns of the blackmark of the case, George is faced with losing his job over the disgrace.
Going to a real lawyer, the poor advice of his friend is exposed, the case is explained, and the errors that led to the suit are explained. Can a lawyer bail out the Beaumonts, even after the damage they’ve caused to their situation? Misunderstandings are ironed out, communication between the parties are begun, and the court date is set. Will this work out to be a case dismissed?
