Hellen has had her brother Ted missing for seven years, which is the length of time to legally declare a person dead in the absence of a body. A will declares that Hellen will inherit the family fortune if Ted should die before her, but she doesn’t care. All she wants is her brother back. Suddenly a telegram announces Ted is alive, but the man who greets her is somebody else.
Ted has all the proper credentials and identity papers, but it’s more than facial changes over the years, Hellen knows her brother was short and stout, not the tall athletic man who greets her. Will anybody believe her? Who can stop Ted from moving into the house that’s rightly his? Maybe Hellen should try the soft approacch to trap Ted?
If Ted is fake, he is a well coached fake. If his documents are faked, they’re faked to the deepest level. Is Hellen ready to cave in and believe in Ted? Hellen has one last straw to grasp.
