Taking a break on a building project, Gildersleeve and Leroy read the day’s mail. As Gildy gets dressed up to respond to a notice about being one of the best dressed men in Summerfield, Birdie and Marjorie add their own views on him and fashion sense. Judge Hooker pops in to swap insults.
Going downtown, the judge accompanies Gildy to poke fun at the tailor shop. Jokes about style, fashion, and being over weight are the theme. Though he comes off as indifferent, the judge phones back to have a suit just like Gildy’s made. Are they falling victim to a scam?
Back home, Marjorie and Birdie learn about the attention that Gildersleeve is getting in the press. Will the scheming tailors have their way with Gildy? He doesn’t seem to be falling for their plan, he’s diving into it with a big splash. Will the judge and Gildhy be caught with their pants down?
