Title: The Deepest Grave in the World.
Far up the Canadian coastline, Judith Wright is in a coffin, conscious, and cooperating with her captors. Major Lawrence was believed to be killed in her escape from a remote island, but now makes an appearance. What does it all mean? How did he get away alive?
Major Lawrence tells how he was to meet the girl at the cabin, and the smuggling and kidnapping ring he was sent to break. Friday and Skip, being unknowns in the area were able to get in where he wouldn’t have been able to. They also recap their ordeal at the livery barn, and the cabin. The smugglers take undesirables into the USA, and now they know how, by coffin. But is Judith headed for America, or somewhere else?
Though the steamer has set sail, our heros manage to reach it, and board the ship. Who is behind the door of cabin 2, and why are the lights off? If Judith Wright should be found out, the Chinese operative is ready to jettison her into her, coffin and all, into the bay.
Quick, Captain Friday and Skip Turner race to the hold of the ship. The Major does his part by trying to take control of the ship from topside, while Friday locates the coffin. Judith shares a secret of her own, and how she narrowly escaped before the coffin went overboard. O’Hoolahan is a curious stowaway. Has she learned her lesson that the only safe way to get into the United States is with a passport? At least she is no longer on her way to China, and a life of white slavery. What will become of her now? With truth and secrets in the openpast sins are atoned for, and their help in catching the smugglers is recognized.
