After their long journey up the inside of the mountain, and on the brink of rescuing Judith, and with the help of Tula, the guys are suddenly prisoners of Mrs Santos. Captain Friday, Skip Turner, and Dr English learn that
Mrs Santos is indeed working against the priests, but wants the situation in her own terms. She tries to win the trust of Captain Friday… again. To prove herself, she returns Judith to her dad. At the reumion, Friday pulls Mrs Santos aside for a full explanation of the role that she has played. Next, Judith tells her ordeal of capture, and escape. Mrs Santos gave her an antidote, and helped her. Mrs Santos is back to share more secrets about unexplained murders along the way. There’s still work to be done in recovering gold from the treasure room the secret passage leads to. Disguised in priest robes, the men set out to cross the sacred city.
As the small band move through the passages, more closure is had on some of the traitorous characters in the story. They discuss the hidden treasure room, and the writtings on the walls in the caverns. Mrs Santos explains their meaning, and significance. ?A wealth of information of the long secret passage, and how she discovered it.
