Lum and Abner – Audition for 30 Minute Format – Trouble Paying Their Back Taxes.

A preview of the 30 minute episodes that will come. But not until a run of a few more 15 minute shows that will run over the remaining Summer months.

Lum needs a loan to cover a tax bill, and he wants to borrow it from Squire Skimp. Calling in some shady backers Squire soon has a proposal for Lum.
Abner thinks they’ll be worse off then they were before. Will Ben Withers be able to loan any money? First he needs to make a call to his friends in Mt Ida… if he can keep straight who it was that he was calling.

Mr Sutter will be in town shortly to discuss the loan with Lum. It’ll improve his chances if he were a family man though. What about Abner standing in as the family man? An emergency at home draws him away, and sets up some awkward points of misunderstanding.

Cedric is on hand, and is just as confused over Abner’s injured cow as Lum was. Mr Shutter arrives, and Lum tries to keep him distracted, until Abner can show up. Abners comments about his cow continue to prove to be hillarious misunderstandings, making Lum and Shutter think he’s talking about Lizabeth. Should Abner call a doctor? Wouldn’t his wife be better off in the house instead of the barn?

The loan may not go through, but Abner’s insurance policy could raise the money the gents need, and save the day for them.
