At the small house halfway up the next block, a raging game of rummy is wrapping up. Vic and Sade are sleepy as they hear Rush come home. The teenager is excited and ready to talk about a house that he saw collapse. Well, it’s front porch has collapsed.
Vic is at least up for sharing a personal anecdote about collapsing, but the drama of it pales in the face of Rushes drama that he unfolds. He’s not exaggerating, or you could send his undershirt to Detroit. Whatever that means.
Though the excited teen wants his parents to witness the scene with him, they’re just too tired. Rush goes on to brag about Rotten Davis, and his antics at the scene. The dramatics also include stunts from Rushes other friend Rooster. Fascinating for a teenager, but Vic and Sade are less than impressed.
I suppose it’s all a matter of perspective, and priorities. Just the thing to excite a perky energetic teenager, but not so much for a tired couple of parents.
