It’s evening as Rush wraps up his algebra homework. Sade sews, and Vic naps. To break the silence, Sade gets the conversation going. Rush has news about free samples down at the drugstore, but the long silence has had things bottled up inside Sade that she just needs to share.
Sade shares her feelings about Mrs Scot, and her being too chummy. The nosey neighbor has such annoying habits as opening the door without knocking, and calls Sade by her first name. There’s just something about the greasy friendlyness of Mrs Scot that makes Sade uncomfortable. Sade doesn’t hate the woman, but doesn’t feel right around her.
Rush keeps trying to change the topic, and bring something more cheery to the conversation, but he keeps getting cut off when he tries to tell his story about Smelly Clark, sometimes on accdent, sometimes on purpose. It’s just another typical evening of casual chit chat with the Gook family.
