The Robin Hood of the Old West, Cisco and his side kick Pancho are on another adenture. The old West was a region of mystery, but our story opens far from there. An archaeologist in Chicago talks to his daughter about a new find in the desert. A stolen mummy from Egypt has been suspected of being hidden away in the southwest somewhere.
Sure enough, a couple of rough types talk, and fill in the blanks about how a mummy came into their possession, and what they have planned for it. With rain coming, Cisco and Pancho seek shelter, and find themselves sharing their cave with the thugs, and mummy with it’s sarcoffagus. The cowboys are afraid that Cisco and Pancho will tell their secret, or try to horn in on their action with plans to get rich with the mummy as a circus attraction.
After parting ways, Cisco has second thoughts as he tries to explain to the confused Pancho over what a mummy is, and why its fishy to find one here.
The paranoid cowboys try to stage a fight, and lay blame on Cisco. The train arrives with the scientist and his daughter from the opening scene as they have come to look for the mummy. The story is that the cowboys found the mummy while prospecting, but the daughter isn’t falling for it. As she rides after the cowboys, Cisco spots the fair damsel, and goes to meet her. They compare notes.
So far the action has been pretty tame, but will things be heating up soon? Wil the archaeologist be in danger as he rides off with the thugs? When the real value of the treasures in the sarcoffagus are discovered, the stakes are raised. What do you think? Cisco rescues the kidnapped archaeologist from a fate of death, and returns him safely to the sweet young daughter.
Warning: Here it comes kiddies! Mushy stuff alert.
Looking back at those days it’s remarkable that they didn’t try to de-emphasize Cisco being a Hispanic hero. There’s even a scene in another episode (The Larabee Land Grab) where the villain gets a cool reception after he gets off the train and asks Pancho and Cisco to carry his bags ! Cisco’s good manners mean that after explaining the situation, he actually does offer to carry the bags anyway.
