Joe Friday is working the robbery detail, and responds to a report of jewel theft. With partner Frank Smith, Joe Friday hits the streets to investigate the robbery of $80000 of missing gems from the jewelry store.
The store owner tells about the professional style robbery. The bandit seems to be a clean cut, well manicured type. Another eye witness emerges, so Friday is on the way to interview him. The thief got away in a taxi, and the witness happens to have the cab information.
The clues are followed up onand a likely suspect is found. A disgruntled bartender seems to stand in their way, but it doesn’t slow down Friday by much. The trail finds a body along the way to add to the charges. A jealous husband is located, but did he kill his wife? How might he fit in with the robbery?
Remaining loose ends are tied up and the dragnet closes around the suspect. The polite man tries to deny his part in the crime, but is soon persuaded to give a full confession.
