Birdie and Marjorie are surprised at Gildersleeve sudden self control at meal time. Leroy seems to know something extra about the resolution to go on a diet. Judge Hooker pops in to learn about Gildy’s new resolve. A challenge is soon put forward to keep on a smoke-free, vegetarian diet, and lose 10 pounds in a week.
How long will the diet last? The next morning, Gildersleeve is chomping at the bit for a huge breakfast. The ladies are holding Gildy to his diet, so he walks downtown for a man sized meal in the diner. Will he be found out by judge Hooker, and if so, why should the judge care if Gildy goes off the diet, and loses the $100 bet to the judge?
Irwin is a man who Hooker set to tail Gildersleeve, and keep him honest. Back home, the family regret the dieting, since Gildy isn’t fun to be around any more. Leroy does his part by going sledding with his uncle. Other exercise, and fitness measures are taken. Is there any progress towards the weight loss goal? The foolishness leads to a visit to the doctor, who puts a fair ending to the bet.
