Our host, the man in black opens with a short story of a dead sailor, complete with his own flavor of punny dark humor.
The feature is about a young coroner. Hard working and dedicated, he takes some time off to enjoy a trip to the great outdoors. His partner at the morgue has bad news for him though. His wife has died, but there seems to be no cause of death for her. The man knows that scientifically, there has to be a cause, but he lists her cause as, Unknown.
The circumstances of her death begin to burn in his mind. What was the cause? When he becomes haunted by his wife, he wonders if she really died at all. His mind begins to go downhill, and thinks she is living in his closet, and that her grave is empty.
His friend tries to be the rational anchor for the frantic coroner, but before long has to take drastic measures to bring his friend back to reality. There is a mystery to unravel as odd things begin to happen. Her grave turns out to be empty, and her body is found in the closet with a knife in her back. What does it all mean? Who could be playing such crude tricks?
A witness turns up a story about a man in black who could possibly have been the woman’s killer. Who was that man? What reason did he have to kill her? Enjoy this dark story of mental illness, and one man’s slow decline into madness.
