After successfully getting his oil to market, Tumbleweed Jones returns to discover that his foreman has betrayed him. Also, banker, Abner Chaney, is still going to foreclose on the loan, claiming that Tumbleweed has no claim on the property. Commanche Joe can clear up the matter of who owns the ranch, but where has he disappeared?
Will Tumbleweed be brought up on charges, and be facing the States Attorney in a court of law? This won’t be a job for Superman, but one for Clark’s intellect in getting to the bottom of a mystery. Has the friendly rancher been lured into a trap? Is he in some kind of danger?
Clark wants to ride to town to confront the oil broker, Larson. The ride to town, and the beautiful day is interupted by the sound of gunshots. Commanche Joe is found on the trail, shot! Is he dead, or just hurt?
